I Don’t Know How to Kill Him

(by Gorlan of the Red Lands, 1999)
(Tune: "I Don’t Know How to Love Him" by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice)
from "Jesus Christ, Superstar"

I don’t know how to kill him
What to do, how to slay him
    He’s a man
    He’s just a man
And I’ve killed so many men before
    In very many ways
    He’s just one more

Don’t you think its rather funny
I should be in this position
    I’m the one
    Who’s always been
    So fast, and not light
    Everybody’s Knight
    Blocking every blow
    He scares me so

    Should I molene?
    Should I charge and shout?
Should I swing low, then high?
    Try to fake him out?
He blocks every shot I’ve ever learned
    Womps me every bout

Yet when I try my combos
He just blocks and then kills me
    I always loose
    Can’t help but loose
    My helmet rings
    My legs collapse
My shield cant stop his blows
    He kills me so
    How I don’t know
    He kills me so

History. The Story Behind this Song

No real story here. After years of fighting, you occasionally come across an opponent who you just can’t win against. I am not talking about fighting super dukes other masters, but someone who fights at about the same level as you. People you win against, win against him all the time, but you two face off, he (or she) is always the victor. The song is written from that perspective. Part of it must be in the mind. I am a firm believer, that if you do not walk onto the field and say to yourself “I Own It”, you have lost before the first blow is struck.
