Fatguys Banner - Vert, a tankard Or.

It was the * Heard 'Round the World

(By Gorlan of the Red Lands (Idea from a comment by Lady Opheila), 1998)
(Tune: Traditional)
(* - Either a clap or use whatever word comes to mind)

At the Arthurian Riddle Quest every one had had gone to bed
After fighting, questing and singing, there was nothing left unsaid
But of all those that went to bed, not all had gone to sleep
From one tent, there were sounds that could be heard up in the keep

    Chorus:
It was the * heard round the world
It woke up the whole site
It was the * heard round the world
And it lasted most of the night
It was the * heard round the world
Cries of Harder!, Harder!! and YES!!!!
It was the * heard round the world
By some SCAdians who were blessed.

The morning was filled with questers Saying "Not me. Was it you?"
They only wanted to know just who were the lucky two
Or others speculated, It may have been three or four
Who passed up the chance for sleep to go on and get some more

    Chorus:

All the Lords in camp are morose and feeling dark despair
For they know their Ladies can't help but compare
They dread the words they know will come and wish it a bad dream
When their Ladies say : [Pause and look around the room]
"My Lord, it's been a while since you made me scream."

    Chorus:

No one would confess, that they were the ones
But a true Lord never boasts of Ladies whom he's shared some fun
So the identities remain an amusing curious puzzle
Let us hope that next time, they remember to bring a muzzle.

    Chorus:

We shall never know, who were the lucky few
But if you're in the audience, I've got some advice for you
If you wish be courteous, at your next event,
Get a private room or get a sound proof tent

    Chorus:

History. The Story Behind this Song

Late Saturday night at the Arthurian Riddle Quest, many in the camp were a awakened by loud moans and screams of "Harder, Harder!!, YES!!!," etc. The next morning there many comments and speculations about where the sound came from. No one really pursued this too far, SCAdians tend to respect others privacy. Again it is not surprising that no one admitted to the deed. Most of the Lords that I associate with do not discuss encounters with a Lady. But there many discussions in a humorous mode. One Lady saying to her Lord that its been a while since he made her scream. One Lady when describing it to those who slept through the night, called it the "**** heard around the world." She then challenged me to write a song about it. This was the result.
