I Take a Good Swing with My Mace
(by Lord Gorlan of the Red Lands, 1998)
(Tune: "Tracks of my Tears" by W. Robinson, M. Tarplin, and W. Moore)
Some folks would say, that I take it too easy
Using Maul weapons when I fight in Wars
By why should I be bored,
Fighting with a shield and a sword.
When its Florentine Mauls that satisfy me.
(Chorus)
I take a good swing with mace
Then smash my ax right into a face
When at a shield wall, I don't need much grace
To kill with my mace
Sure if your goal is to get Knighted
You have to play with all different forms
But my only goal
Is a large death toll
To take as many with me before I go
Chorus
I get my kicks by charging a shield Wall
And try to punch a whole right thru
And I will admit
I get hacked up quite a bit
But that's all right, as long as it stays fun
Chorus
Even when your foe has a great sword
You can still pummel away
Or when your on your knees
You can still kill with ease
Just do a drum roll up and down his side
Chorus
The Story Behind this Song
A response to some people who recently tried to give me some advice that I
should use more weapons forms or I will "never get anywhere". They miss the
point. Been there, Done That, Got the T-shirt, Burned it and Buried it. I
first picked up a stick in 1974. At one point, Tennis Elbow forced me to
fight right handed instead of left for a few years. It's not that I don't
know how to use the other forms. I can do them either left or right handed.
I just have the most fun fighting Ax and Mace. I'm not trying to "Get
Anywhere". I'm quite happy right where I'm at. Thank you.
