Bop, Bop, Bop, Bop Till You Drop
(by Gorlan of the Red Lands, 1999)
(Tune: "Barbara Ann" by Freddy Frassert [of The Who])
Chorus:
Bop, Bop, Bop.
Bop Till You Drop
Bop, Bop, Bop.
Bop Till You Drop
Bop, Bop, Bop.
Bop Till You Drop
Let’s all go bopping
Until we’re dropping
In a 3 hour bear pit
Out in the snow
They call it Cold Steel
The cold we won’t feel
As long as the lines
Don’t move too slow
Chorus:
It’s non stop fighting
It’s real exciting
And everyone
Can get their fill
And if you get bored
Fighting with a sword
Just grab a new type
And get back in line
Chorus:
When the fighting is done
We’ll feel we’ve all won
Just because
We had a chance to fight
We’ll be drinking and feasting
The rest of the evening
And Watch the Dancing girls
In the Hall
Chorus:
The Story Behind this Song
Several years ago, Sir Axel used to host a Bear Pit Tournament Called "Bop Till You Drop." This was done in response to those poor fighters who drove all the way to an event, armored up, then got killed in the first round. That is one of the main reasons that Bear Pits are popular. You can get your fill of fighting. Sir Axels last event before he departed for the USA, was Cold Steel. The winter Version of Bop till you Drop. It is held in Winter, when there is still snow on the ground. The tradition has continued. For the last two years, it has been hosted by Martin the Mercenary, A Fat Guy. After the Fighting was over, he held a feast at his house, and there were many call for "Bring out the Dancing Girls." Martin always a gracious host, dressed a few ladies in Fat Guys Tabards and Convinced them to Dance. A good time was had by all.
