ards historically have always been the subjects of both respect and ridicule. Though their influence on modern society and culture is undeniable, there is really very little known about them. Truth be told, the only things generally agreed upon were that they were entertainers, teachers, and even (at times) great warriors. And though most typical literature places the bard as a product of medieval Europe, especially the British Isles, in fact, there have been known examples of bards in cultures all across the world. To this day, there are still some who practice under the all-encompassing title of "Bard." This site is not concerned so much with the authenticity of bards, but rather, certain aspects of "Barddom," and how they can apply to various roleplaying games - primarily Amtgard, DragonRealms and EverQuest.

Thanks to Terarin and Blackthorn for paving the road. And special thanks to Ioseph of Locksley, without whose constant inspiration, this page never would have been. Extra thanks have to go to those who have inspired me more recently: Roger, Larin, Cabal, and of course, Feral, my best friend and constant challenge. |
